Description

Das Projekt LINCNET soll die optische Drahtloskommunikation (LiFi) so weiterentwickeln, dass sie in branchenspezifischen Anwendungen als Alternative zur 5G Funkkommunikation eingesetzt werden kann. LiFi nutzt unlizenziertes optisches Spektrum. Es ergänzt den Funk hinsichtlich höherer Datenraten auf kleinen Flächen, besonders in Gebäuden, und hat das Potenzial, höhere Sicherheit und mehr Zuverlässigkeit z.B. bzgl. elektromagnetischer Verträglichkeit zu gewährleisten. Die natürlichen Eigenschaften des Lichts als drahtloses Medium bieten vielfache Vorteile in der digitalen Medizin und für die industrielle Kommunikation. Während LiFi in diesen Bereichen ein hohes Anwendungspotenzial hat und bereits exemplarisch demonstriert wurde, fehlen noch kostengünstig integrierte, marktfähige Lösungen.
