Abstract

We describe the design and implementation of a reliable IOT based cargo monitoring system which consists of a heterogeneous communication network with wireless and power-line networks to deliver data to an unmanned surveillance centre. We design robust video analytics based tamper detection algorithm that runs on a low cost add-on infrastructure to existing surveillance camera systems to detect a tamper. Our experimental results show that communication reliability is up at 99.35% when we choose a channel adaptively based on average received SINR estimates. Tamper detection of net and strap has a 98% reliability at 2 metre distance from the camera.
