Welcome to my personal website at TKN — I'm Simon.

From 2018 to 2022, I pursued my B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering at Technische Universität Dortmund, with the specialization "management of electrical systems". During this time, I developed a strong interest in telecommunication networks, particularly through courses such as Telecommunications Engineering (NT) and Communication Networks (KN).

While completing my bachelor's degree, I gained my first teaching experience as a tutor for Technical Mechanics (TM), Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (GET), and Electrical Engineering and Communications Technology (ETKT). I also gained initial research experience as a student research assistant at the Chairs of High-Voltage Technology (HST) and Communications Technology (KT).

After graduating, I moved from North Rhine-Westphalia to Berlin to pursue a master's degree in Industrial Engineering at TU Berlin, this time with a dedicated focus on information and communication systems. This brought me into contact with TKN through the course Network Embedded Systems, which eventually led to a position as a student research assistant. Through TU Berlin, I also had the opportunity to spend an exchange semester in Mexico City at UNAM — so feel free to reach out in Spanish as well ;)

I completed my M.Sc. with a thesis at TKN focused on centralized Wi-Fi. Based on this work, I authored my first conference paper, which was published in the proceedings of the LCN 2025 conference in Sydney.

Since January 2025, I have been working at TKN as a research associate and PhD candidate. Currently, I am part of the AvaRange project, focusing on the localization of sensor nodes in snow avalanches using wireless technologies like ultra-wideband ranging.
