Advanced Communication Systems [ComSys]
Winter 2012/2013
Contents
This course discusses advanced topics in communication systems. Starting with an introduction to wired network infrastructures and protocol engineering, we study quality of service techniques necessary for multimedia communication in the Internet. In the second part of the lecture, we focus on wireless communication, starting with wireless LAN and WPAN solutions, and continuing with routing and clustering techniques in ad hoc networks.
- Network Infrastructure
Ciruit switching, virtual circuit switching, telephone networks, ATM - Quality of Service and Multimedia
Policing, scheduling, AQM, IntServ, DiffServ, MPLS - Wireless and Mobile Communications
Wireless LAN, WPAN, sensor networks, GSM/UMTS - Ad Hoc Networks
Routing, clustering, self-organization in massively distributed systems
