Research:
My research is focused on the architectural aspects of Wireless
Sensor Networks (WSN), in particular on the design of local and
network-wide system abstractions for WSNs that reconcile the
conflicting requirements between application-specific performance
optimization with portability, re-usability and productivity.
On the operating system level, our Hardware Abstraction Architecture
(HAA) enables flexible selection of the appropriate level of
abstraction for maximum performance or portability. The HAA has
been selected as the blueprint for the abstraction of hardware in
TinyOS 2.0,
the most popular operating system for WSNs.
On the distributed-system level, our Publish/Subscribe
Service provides a natural data-centric API that decouples
the application logic from the complex inner workings of the
system. At the same time, the service supports custom selection of
the communication protocols for subscription dissemination and
notification collection, allowing application-specific
optimizations.
